USING SALT-TOLERANT RHIZOBIA TO IMPROVE THE SOYBEAN (GLYCINE MAX) RESILIENCE TO SALINITY

Soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) is an economically important oilseed crop with annual increase in growing grain demand. a moderately salt-tolerant crop; however, salt stress conditions can affect its growth and yield-related traits and, eventually, reduce productivity. In saline soils, one of the techniques to soybean productivity use rhizobia inoculation. Although, using industrial rhizobia-based biofertilizers often ineffective due their lack adaptability salinity. Injecting soybeans growth-promoting helps mitigate effects harmful plants. The recent study sought isolate local strains rhizobia, studying ability tolerance conditions. Twenty-four salttolerant rhizobium isolates underwent isolation from root nodules grown on soils. Studying basic morphological biochemical characteristics withstand led final selection five strains. were able synthesize metabolites that stimulate help nodulation under resulted selecting three most efficient Bradyrhizobium japonicum species. Inoculation seeds proved adverse salinity plant by increasing size number roots. Thus, establishes inoculation enhances improves adaptation soil Using isolated will provide key environmentally friendly approach solving problem for sustainable agriculture.
